Ian Parker
About
After training in business and accounting, Ian went into the funeral directing business before taking up positions as accountant, associate and lead of the Not For Profit sector for BDO Gisborne, then going on to become general manager of Walter Findlay Ltd.
Along the way he has been a big contributor in Not for Profit circles, holding governance roles with organisations including the Cancer Society, the Child Cancer Foundation, the Funeral Service Training Trust, Eastland Rescue Helicopter Trust and the Harry Barker Reserve Sports Facilities Trust.
And, handily, he can also get you married (he is a registered celebrant) and help with your legal issues (he's a Justice of the Peace and Issuing Officer of the Court).
In his role as an independent business consultant, Ian likes to remind clients that while history helps, it is the future that counts, and encourage them to embrace the prospect of change.
To help achieve that he will meet with you, listen to what keeps you awake at night and, from these discussions, hatch a plan to support your aspirations and let you sleep.
“As well as my business experience, my strength is that I am Gisborne based,” Ian says, “so I know the people, I know the market, and I can offer support to help a business thrive here and beyond.”
